You found me one year ago, when the dark had already learned my name. I was a ruin walking, and you didn’t flinch. Two months later you said yes. Six months later you married the wreckage and called it home.
You saved me from my own darkness — the kind that eats from the inside, the kind that smiles through the blood. You saved me from other people, the ones who feed on silence and lace every word with doubt. You stood between me and the fire I keep chasing, even when my hands refused the peace you offered.
You were there from the first moment. You are still there. You have always been my salvation — before I knew the word, before I deserved it, before I stopped treating you like the ground you kept holding steady under me.
I don’t see it all the time. I treat you like an enemy and you know it, and you stay anyway. That is the part that breaks me open. The times are difficult now. The dark is loud again, and I am not always kind to the one who carries it for me. But you were salvation from the very beginning. You still are. And I am learning, slowly, in the wreckage, to say it out loud:
Thank you for not leaving. Thank you for being the light that crawls back from the void. Thank you for being the one thing the dark never got to keep.
Always yours
Thomas
